Our May Meeting
Ellie Whitney is our scheduled in-person live speaker for May.
Malanna, wants to share a little about Ellie with the group:
Since the age of three, Ellie Whitney has loved reading and since age ten, writing, She achieved a master’s degree which she used to teach high school English which seemed a natural fit.
She graduated summa cum laude from Lindenwood University in Missouri.
She taught high school for over ten years and has spent the last eight as a writing tutor and freelance editor.
Her work has appeared in various local, state, and national publications, and she’s been blessed to win a half dozen writing competitions.
Her new love is teaching and mentoring at writing conferences, which she’s been doing since 2020.
Currently, Ellie lives in Virginia with her wonderful family where she herds cats, teaches ESL, and eats chocolate, not necessarily in that order.
Ellie, speaking to our group is a rare opportunity to get know a writer of renown, also a professional teacher of the craft. Please have some questions ready, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to gain insight and knowledge into the world of writing from someone who has lived the experience and developed the art and craft of writing in her own life as well as offering her wisdom to benefit others.

January 2024 Agenda
On the agenda for this Saturday at Salem Church Public Library, Meeting Room #1 at 1 o'clock, will be an internet presentation on how to construct a book using Microsoft Word. ...A lot of people assume it is just a matter of determined writing and of cobbling segments together, but it can be quite a challenge of formatting margins, chapters and pagination (page numbering). Even old hats at the game may learn a thing or two.

A Little About Our December Meeting
Our Annual Holiday Party on December 9th, 2023 was a wonderful success.
Everyone brought yummy food, desserts and/or beverages.
We had a very productive business meeting, with someone anonymously donating and covering the cost of our website hosting.
Thank you, whoever you are, your kindness will be rewarded.
A little bit before the meeting ended some members read some of their
wonderfully creative literary work.
We are a talented group of writers!!
A good time was had by all with much comradery and holiday spirit enjoyed.
