Hello, illustrious Riverside Writers. From time to time, I pass on the chronological listing of grant and contest opportunities that are posted on the Poets & Writers Magazine site. (Please see our disclaimer at top of page.)
The Writing Contests, Grants & Awards database includes details about the creative writing contests—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, and more—that we’ve published in Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it. Ours is the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere. https://www.pw.org/grants?gad_source=1

THE GOLDEN NIB INFORMATION JUNE 2024
To all the hopefuls aspiring to Tier 1 and 2 of the Golden Nib contest, I'm reminded by RW member Rachel Young that
the Virginia Writers Club detailed rules requires a cover letter/sheet to accompany submissions.
To read the rest of the detailed rules click the link for more detailed info
www.virginiawritersclub.org/2024-Golden-Nib-Contest
There are two levels particularly in need is the first level, but you need to submit the required cover letter with your poetry or story anyway, in case your wonderful work advances to the next level. The format for the cover to your entries is attached, and again, good luck to you. Form you need to submit with entry
Happy and inspired writing ! Steven P. Pody, President, Riverside Writers, Fredericksburg-area Chapter of the Virginia Writers Club

It is on TUESDAY APRIL 30th. Its a free Event Looks interesting. |
Good folk, am sending out this invitation in case some of you missed it. This is an opportunity to read and/or hear local poetry, and is a week in advance of our own similar event. It is off of Route 17, and thirty or so minutes from Salem Church Library. Perhaps I'll see you there ! Please see the notice below...
On Saturday, April 6, 2024, we plan to hold an in-person poetry reading at the Howell Branch in celebration of Poetry Month.
Last year’s in-person event was a great success and many of those who participated asked to do it again this year. The Poetry Society of Virginia is partnering with the library to host the event and to help spread the word about it
The event will start at 2:00 p.m.. We will have readings for approximately 45 minutes, will take a break for book sales and mingling, and then finish from 3:15-4:00pm
You are receiving this invitation because many of you have participated in poetry events with the library in the past, some joined us for last year’s event, and a few of you have been recommended by local poets. I know that some of you may be too far away to attend, but I hope that those who are fairly close by will be interested in sharing your poetry with the community. If you would be interested in reading, please fill out the information form with your contact information, bio, and the poems you would like to read.
Poetry Celebration 2024 Invitation and Information
Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, please forward this email to any local poets you know who might also like to share their work. We should be able to accommodate 14-20 poets, depending on how many poems each has to share. I look forward to a lovely event in April celebrating poetry with as many of our local poets as possible.
