Steven P. Pody He has been writing (and singing!) between latitudes and longitudes since 1969. He has published a 137-page volume of verse, entitled “The Panoptikon” (Dec 2008), and his poetic work is additionally represented in anthologies in Arizona, California, Maryland, Ol’ Virginny, and the internet. Steven was a citizen of Alaska for ten years. He also lived for 1 1/2 years in the Middle East, and 4 1/2 years in Africa. Africa time was mostly covered by two tours in the U.S. Peace Corps. His current tally stands at 53 countries and 48 U.S. states visited, including multiple Arctic Circle crossings — all of which have provided colorful fodder for his work Steven met his German wife, Beate, at an archaeological dig in the Golan Heights of Israel. They have three adult children, and their life together is a loverly long-running poem Malanna Secretary Malanna Henderson is a Detroit native who is a novelist, playwright, singer, songwriter, and Zumba enthusiast. She won first-place in a one-act playwriting festival sponsored by the Tulsa Library, for a play titled, A Question of Color After moving to Fredericksburg, Virginia, she won another first-place award for a comedy sponsored by Stage Door Productions, called The Eclipse She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Detroit, and later earned an MFA degree in Creative Writing from the City University of New York. As Vice President, she hopes to explore ways to help members achieve their writing goals. William Tang Treasurer Long Tang is a China Historian. He is fluent in three dialects of Chinese and Spanish. He wrote the Tales of the Dragon column for WashingtonTimes.com. He has published five books and numerous articles on the history and culture of China. His most recent book is The Chinese Slant – Rising to Dominate, History Publishing Co. LLC, 2021, a history of China presented from the Chinese point of view. Carol Thomas Horton Recording Secretary Carol grew up in an extended family of front-porch story-sharers near Fredericksburg. She is a former national award-winning journalist for Media General, where she wrote for multiple periodicals, including the Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Free Lance-Star. Carol also holds a doctorate focusing on education, and has authored several education documents and curriculums while serving as a school teacher and later, as a principal. She currently lives and gardens with her family on a portion of her late great grandparents’ farm, where she continues to write about people and places, including co-authoring the book, A History of Round Oak Baptist Church. Volunteers Miriam Pody Social Media Director She is our new social media director and will be working diligently to set up Instagram. YouTube, Facebook a Blog and what ever else she finds to help us grow our membership. She will keep us updated so when you want a quick look at what is currently happening her skills will keep you informed. Hoping her abilities in this area will bring in more younger adults interested in writing into our club. Barbara Webmaster Barbara has been working on websites for over 25 years. She had her own PT computer business in FL. also working as a writer/photographer for a local magazine. She also enjoyed visiting local gardens taking photos to create her own note cards she sold locally. Barbara also won 2nd place in two poetry contests. She has two passions, photography, and creating websites which filled her spare time back in FL. Since moving to VA she had been looking to find something to fill the void and happily donated her time to create a new website for RW. She has also offered to help some others in the group to learn the Website program so we always have someone to add or delete content as needed on our website. He was/is wonderful and we owe him a deep debt of gratitude for all his hard work in creating our compreshensive original website. Again, Thank you Nate a bit about Nate Nate has been helping people fix broken tech since 2010. He turns broken down WordPress sites into sites which convert visitors into super fans, also builds sites from scratch, and helps authors with their social media and newsletters. Nate is on the board of the Florida Writers Foundation, and helps writer groups with their websites. When he is not volunteering, he writes bad jokes on Twitter and creates memes and graphics.
